Product design

How Scanly is designed to work

A barcode identifies the product record. Scanly then separates source facts from versioned evaluation rules, explains missing information and suggests only genuinely comparable alternatives.

Research checked September 7, 2026. This page provides general information and does not offer medical or dietary advice.

The five-step result

  • Decode a barcode or accept manual entry.
  • Match the exact product, market and current formulation.
  • Show sourced nutrition, processing and ingredient facts.
  • Apply published rules and display uncertainty separately.
  • Compare alternatives within a sufficiently specific category.
